GE Appliance Repair in Orange County
GE has the broadest spread of any brand we attend, from basic freestanding ranges in the older north county tracts to Monogram built-ins in remodelled kitchens. Haier bought GE Appliances in 2016, though the platforms and part numbers have carried over. We service the full range, including Profile and Cafe.
What GE builds
GE covers the whole market under one family of badges: the standard GE line, Profile above it, Cafe with its customisable hardware, and Monogram at the built-in end. Ranges, wall ovens, dishwashers, French-door refrigeration and top-load laundry are all in scope. The engineering is conventional and well documented, so faults tend to be quick to isolate and parts are among the easiest in the trade to obtain.
What we are called about most
- Gas oven slow to heat or never reaching temperature
- The glow-bar igniter has weakened. It still glows, so it looks serviceable, but it no longer pulls enough current to hold the safety valve open. Long preheats and a cavity running under the set point are the usual complaints.
- Oven control board relay failure
- The board switches the bake and broil elements through relays that eventually stop closing. The oven then heats on one element only, or not at all, sometimes with a fault code on the display and sometimes with no warning.
- Dishwasher leaking at the motor
- Common on the older GE machines, where the pump and motor share a shaft seal that wears. The leak appears under the centre of the machine rather than at the door, which is a useful way to tell the two causes apart.
- Refrigerator warm with frost on the coil
- The defrost heater or its thermostat has failed, so ice builds across the evaporator until airflow stops. The freezer usually stays acceptable for a while, and the fresh food compartment warms first, which misleads a lot of owners.
- Top-load washer will not spin
- On the GTW-series machines this is the lid lock or the mode shifter beneath the tub. The symptom is the same as on the Whirlpool platform, but the parts are different, so the model number matters here.
