Maytag Appliance Repair in Orange County
Whirlpool acquired Maytag in 2006, and that matters more than the badge does. The laundry, dishwashers and refrigeration share platforms, parts and fault codes with the Whirlpool equivalents, so a Maytag diagnosis usually follows the same path. We cover the full line across Orange County, laundry included.
What Maytag builds
Maytag sits in the durable, plainly built end of the Whirlpool group. The high-efficiency top-load washers are the volume product, alongside front loaders, matching dryers, dishwashers and French-door refrigeration. Since the acquisition the machines have been built on shared Whirlpool platforms, which is good news for repairs: parts are widely stocked, service data is well documented, and the common failures are known quantities rather than guesswork.
What we are called about most
- Washer fills but will not spin
- The lid lock assembly is the usual culprit on the high-efficiency top loaders. It is a shared Whirlpool-platform part, so it fails the same way on both badges: the machine completes the wash, then stops before the spin and reports a lock or lid fault.
- Drum will not agitate
- On the same top-load platform this points at the shift actuator, the small motorised unit that switches the drive between agitate and spin. When it fails the machine still fills and drains but does nothing useful to the load.
- Long drain or standing water
- A drain fault code after a long pump-out is normally a coin, a hairpin or a scrap of fabric in the pump impeller, or a kinked drain hose behind the machine. We clear the pump and check the hose run before replacing anything.
- Dryer tumbles without heat
- On electric dryers the heating element or the thermal cut-off, and the two are related: a blocked vent overheats the housing, the cut-off opens, and fitting a new one without clearing the duct just repeats the failure a few weeks later.
- Dishwasher leaves grit on the dishes
- Usually the chopper or the wash pump rather than the detergent. Debris gets past the filter, jams the chopper blade, and wash pressure drops until the upper rack stops getting cleaned properly.
