Miele appears in a small number of Orange County kitchens but the equipment is long-lived, so the units we attend are often well into their second decade. The engineering is excellent and almost everything is serviceable. The practical constraint is parts: they are usually ordered rather than stocked locally, and we say so up front.
What Miele builds
Miele builds to a longer service life than most of the market and prices accordingly. The G-series dishwashers, W1 washing machines and T1 heat-pump dryers are the core domestic line, alongside Generation 7000 built-in ovens, steam ovens and coffee systems. Components are properly documented and individually replaceable, and the machines are designed to be opened, which makes most faults genuinely repairable rather than a prompt to replace the appliance.
What we are called about most
- Waterproof system tripped
- Miele fits a leak-protection system that cuts the machine off when water reaches the base tray. The machine is behaving correctly. The work is locating the leak, most often the sump gasket, a perished hose or the door seal.
- Dishwasher will not drain
- The drain pump or the non-return valve. Debris that gets past the filter jams the impeller, and the machine logs a fault and stops with water in the sump. The filter assembly itself is often overdue a proper clean too.
- Circulation pump or heater fault
- Where the dishwasher runs a full cycle but leaves everything cold and poorly washed, it is usually the circulation pump or the heater relay on the control. The cycle time often stretches noticeably before the fault is logged.
- T1 dryer taking far too long
- Heat-pump dryers move heat rather than generating it, so a blocked heat exchanger or a loaded fine filter destroys their efficiency. Cycles stretch out and clothes come out damp, without any error being reported at all.
- W1 washer stopping with the door locked
- Commonly the drain pump filter, the pressure system, or the door interlock itself. We drain the machine through the filter trap first, then test the lock circuit rather than forcing the door and damaging the catch.
